Dr. Rita Anderson has specialized in bariatric surgery for several years. After graduating from the Wright State University School of Medicine, she performed her surgical residency in Dayton and received extensive training in bariatric surgery. Dr. Anderson commonly performs both open Roux-en-Y and biliopancratic diversion (with duodenal switch) procedures, though her specialty is quickly becoming the less invasive laparoscopic Roux-en-Y surgery.

Dr. Anderson is affiliated with several surgical associations and holds a teaching position with The Wright State University Department of Surgery (general and bariatric surgeries).

Dr. Anderson is very enthusiastic about her work and is known for her affectionate care. She is extremely understanding of her patients’ needs and is dedicated to helping every patient succeed.

“I love what I do, and I love the people I am able to help through my work. It is profoundly moving to share in the remarkable transformations many patients experience, but I’m also amazed by what doesn’t change. Before or after surgery, bariatric patients are often simply wonderful people whose personalities, needs, and gifts remain the same. I feel fortunate to know them, and being able to help them take positive steps in their lives is tremendously rewarding.”
